How Much Does a Website Cost in Singapore in 2026? A No-BS Pricing Breakdown for SMEs

This is the question every Singapore business owner asks first and almost no vendor answers honestly. Most search results are either sales pages with no real numbers, or generic global articles quoting USD. Here is the straight version, in SGD, written by people who build these every week.

The short answer (in real SGD)

A business website in Singapore in 2026 typically costs somewhere between S$700 and S$15,000, depending on whether you want a template, a fully custom build, or a web app with logins and a database behind it. That range is wide because "website" means wildly different things to different people. Here is how it breaks down.

What you are buying Typical price (SGD) Who it is for
Template site (Wix, Squarespace, themed WordPress) S$700 to S$1,500 Solo founders, very early stage, validating an idea
Custom designed marketing site (5 to 10 pages) S$1,500 to S$5,000 Established SMEs who want to look credible and convert
Web app (logins, dashboards, bookings, payments) S$5,000 to S$15,000 Businesses with a real digital workflow or product
Enterprise platform or e-commerce at scale S$15,000+ High volume sellers, multi-team operations

All figures above are before GST. Note that Singapore's GST rate rose to 9% on 1 January 2024, so a GST-registered vendor will add that on top. You can confirm the current rate on the IRAS GST rates page.

What is actually inside that quote

When a vendor sends you a number, it usually bundles several different jobs. Knowing what they are lets you spot what is missing:

  • Design. Wireframes, visual design, and a brand-consistent layout. This is where cheap and premium quotes diverge the most.
  • Development. Turning the design into a real, fast, responsive site that works on every screen.
  • Copywriting. The words on the page. Often left out of the quote and quietly handed back to you.
  • Domain and hosting. Your address and the server it lives on. A .com.sg domain registered through SGNIC runs roughly S$40 to S$60 a year; a .com is similar.
  • SSL certificate. The padlock in the browser. This should be free now thanks to Let's Encrypt, so nobody should be charging you for it as a line item.

The hidden costs nobody mentions

This is how a S$1,500 quote becomes a S$4,000 bill. None of these are scams. They are real costs that simply were not in the headline number:

  • Content and copywriting. If you cannot write the pages yourself, professional copy for a 6-page site adds S$600 to S$2,000.
  • Photography. Stock images are fine until they are not. A half-day shoot for a local business starts around S$500.
  • Maintenance retainers. Updates, backups, security patches, and small changes. Expect S$50 to S$300 a month, or a pay-as-you-go rate.
  • Plugin and software licences. Booking systems, premium themes, email tools, and form handlers often carry annual fees of S$100 to S$500 each.
  • Re-platforming later. The cheapest build today can be the most expensive in two years if you outgrow it and have to start over.

Ask any vendor to put these in writing up front. A good one will tell you before you sign. A bad one tells you after.

The PSG grant can cover up to half of it

If your business is registered and operating in Singapore, the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) can subsidise a significant share of an eligible website or digital build. As of 2026 the grant supports up to 50% of qualifying costs, but only for solutions listed by IMDA as pre-approved. You can read the official terms on the GoBusiness PSG page and check eligibility and the application route through Enterprise Singapore.

Two things people miss. First, only IMDA pre-approved solutions and vendors qualify, so a fully bespoke build from a non-listed vendor may not be claimable. Second, you usually pay the full amount upfront and claim the subsidy back later, which means you need the cashflow to float the gap. Plan for it. We cover the full process in our PSG grant guide.

Template vs custom vs agency: the honest tradeoffs

There is no single right answer. There is only the right answer for where your business is today.

  • Template (S$700 to S$1,500). Fast and cheap. You trade uniqueness and flexibility for speed. Perfect for testing whether a business idea has legs.
  • Custom build (S$1,500 to S$5,000). Designed around your brand and your customers, built to convert and to grow. This is where most serious SMEs should land.
  • Full agency engagement (S$10,000+). Strategy, brand, content, and build as one package. Worth it when the website is central to revenue, not a brochure.

Five red flags when getting quotes

  • No written scope. If the deliverables are not in writing, the argument later is guaranteed.
  • Hosting lock-in. If you cannot move your site elsewhere, you do not really own it.
  • No source code handover. Clarify upfront whether you get the files and accounts at the end.
  • A vague timeline. "A few weeks" is not a timeline. Ask for milestones and dates.
  • No post-launch support. Things break. Find out what happens on day 31 before you sign.

What each budget actually buys you

  • S$700. A clean template, your logo and colours, a handful of pages, and you writing the content. Live in a week.
  • S$2,000. A custom designed 5 to 7 page site, mobile-first, basic SEO setup, and a contact form that actually reaches you.
  • S$5,000. A polished, conversion-focused build with custom illustrations or animation, a CMS so you can edit it yourself, and proper analytics.
  • S$10,000+. A web app: logins, a dashboard, bookings or payments, and a backend built to handle real users.

The bottom line

A good website in Singapore is not about finding the cheapest quote. It is about understanding exactly what is included, what is not, and what it will cost you to run it a year from now. Get every line in writing, ask about the hidden costs before you sign, and check whether the PSG grant can cover part of the bill.
